David Letterman had his Top Ten list. Now President Donald Trump has one of his own – although congressional Democrats probably won’t be framing this one.
The White House on Wednesday released “Ten Times Extreme Liberal Democrats in Congress Put Their Dangerous Agenda Ahead of the American People,” essentially a greatest-hits collection of Democratic votes Republicans would like voters to remember.
And Now, the Top 10…
According to the White House, Democrats:
- Refused to condemn socialism, including 192 House Democrats who voted against a resolution this week.
- Voted against Trump’s massive tax package, including provisions dealing with taxes on tips, overtime and Social Security.
- Opposed a measure targeting Iran, with 53 Democrats voting against declaring the Islamic Republic a state sponsor of terrorism.
- Voted against the Stop Insider Trading Act, aimed at preventing members of Congress from profiting from privileged information.
- Opposed health care price transparency legislation requiring hospitals to disclose prices.
- Voted against Republican election-integrity legislation, including citizenship verification and voter ID requirements.
- Opposed legislation restricting transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports.
- Voted against prohibiting federal Medicaid dollars from funding transgender treatments for minors.
- Opposed the Laken Riley Act, which expanded detention requirements for certain illegal immigrants accused of crimes.
- Opposed Republican government funding measures, which the White House blames for two shutdowns.
The White House clearly hopes voters keep the list handy through November. Democrats may dispute the sales pitch, but Republicans are betting the votes themselves will be harder to explain.
