The U.S. Supreme Court just threw a wrench into one of Democrats’ favorite behind- the-scenes games: drawing district maps based on race. And suddenly, some of the loudest voices against “racism” are… not thrilled, screaming phrases like “Jim Crow” and (as usual) “it’s an end of democracy” because they can’t draw their racist maps.
The ruling, which struck down Louisiana’s congressional map as an unconstitutional racial gerrymander, reinforces a pretty straightforward idea: voters aren’t interchangeable pieces sorted by skin color. But critics on the left are warning of chaos, claiming minority representation took a hit.
Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities – so long as they do it under the guise of…

The decision made today by the Supreme Court’s conservative majority was dishonest and shameful.

The Supreme Court just turned its back on one of the most sacred promises in American democracy—the promise that every voice counts.

Cue the irony.
As conservative commentator Kurt Schlichter put it:
“The Supreme Court just said that you can’t gerrymander by race and all the people who claim not to be racist are really angry that they can’t be racist.”
For years, race-based mapping was defended as necessary to ensure “fair” representation. But the Court’s majority opinion signals that using race as a primary factor in drawing districts crosses a constitutional line. That’s a problem now for Democratic states that have leaned heavily on racial data to engineer “safe” districts.
The decision is causing the left to threaten to redraw their own maps before the upcoming elections (as if they haven’t already been working on doing that).
