If you’ve been keeping score at home, reality and the internet are once again playing two different games – and one of them thinks it’s the referee.
According to Wikipedia (Wiki) and AI tools like ChatGPT, there’s been no renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America” and no real return of the “Department of War.”
Yet under President Donald Trump 2.0, we’ve seen a string of name reversals and restorations: Denali back to Mount McKinley, Fort Liberty back to Fort Bragg, and Fort Moore back to Fort Benning. Changes often not acknowledged by the liberal Wiki folks or AI. Just like ChatGPT didn’t acknowledge Trump was president for the second time for quite a while.
Instead of having a page on the “Gulf of America” Wikipedia instead offers a “Gulf of Mexico” page and a “naming controversy” page instead – because the Left thinks that reality needs a debate section.
Wikipedia thinks it gets to decide what is real and what isn’t, but if the gatekeepers of information – human or artificial – pick and choose which changes to recognize, then “truth” starts looking less like fact and more like a Leftist editorial board.
