Some nonprofit organizations hand out food, others find homes for the homeless. Still others save dogs and cats who are sick or injured. And then there’s Human Rights First [1] – which a report [2] from Capital Research Center says is doing something a little different.
In addition to providing free legal help for illegal aliens so they can stay in the country forever and suing to block federal immigration policy, they are also tracking immigration enforcement officers to “warn the suspects” when the cops are coming.
Capital Research says they are operating a “high-tech surveillance wing against our own Department of Homeland Security, undermining our national sovereignty.”
It’s called “ICE Flight Monitor [3],” which tracks deportation flights using public aviation data to expose enforcement activity.
Human Rights First says the goal is accountability and transparency – which means they are automatically assuming that ICE and the federal government are involved in wrongdoing. They actually say as much on their website [3]: “At a time of lawless ICE enforcement, inhumane detention, and deportations without due process, the ICE Flight Monitor delivers accessible and reliable data to strengthen public accountability and transparency in our democracy.”
In today’s immigration debate, Leftist nonprofits (often funded by government grants) aren’t just helping – they’re picking sides. And they aren’t choosing to help or protect Americans.
