When the Donkeys Forgot the Flag

Time for some introspection here on the program today.

I’m old enough to remember when Democrats were still Americans—when they took pride in the country they represented. Back when they understood what makes this nation different and what makes it great. There was a time when they at least pretended to respect—or at the bare minimum tolerate—the beliefs and ideas held by our Founding Fathers.

Those days are long dead and gone.

James Talarico has represented part of Austin, Texas in the state’s House of Representatives since 2018, and he just won the Democratic Senate primary in Texas last night—beating Representative Jasmine Crockett.

Now, I’m not a Democrat—and at this point I wouldn’t vote for one—but the ideas that propelled Talarico to victory say a lot about where the modern Democratic Party has landed. Talarico claims to be a Christian believer. In fact, he’s training to become an ordained minister at a Presbyterian seminary. Listen to this.

You’ve got to be kidding me. This guy is willing to subvert thousands of years of Biblical teaching just to produce viral clips that win him favor with a liberal audience.

He’s even attempting to pass a bill that encourages minors to change their gender—effectively pushing children toward self-mutilation—by arguing that God is “non-binary.”

God is divine. He’s not a biological being, so He doesn’t possess biological sex in the human sense. But that does not equate in any way to the modern ideological construct of “non-binary” identity.

Scripture consistently reveals God through overwhelmingly masculine language—titles, pronouns, and self-identification. God the Father entered the world through the incarnation of His Son, Jesus Christ—a biological male. For thousands of years there has been no confusion about this, until political opportunists like James Talarico decided theology could be twisted to serve their agenda.

Here’s more from that same speech.

Does he hear himself?

Children are made in God’s image—period. Full stop. There is nothing wrong with the gender they are born as, and there isn’t some alternative classification waiting to be discovered.

Children are not born “trans.” And they should never be encouraged—especially as children—to pursue that destructive path.

There should be no such thing as “trans children.” Even using that phrase is morally wrong.

But Talarico isn’t done. Here’s another one of his bright ideas.

No thanks.

The analogy doesn’t even hold up. What it conveniently leaves out is that Democrat leadership has effectively announced to the entire world that America’s door is wide open.

I don’t have millions of people trying to break through my front door. But our southern border did—thanks to his party.

James Talarico’s rise to power proves something important: the only kind of “Christian” the modern Democratic Party is willing to accept is a counterfeit one—someone willing to twist Scripture and reinterpret Biblical teaching so it conveniently rubber-stamps their political agenda.

And he’s hardly alone.

Tim Walz is another Democrat who claims to be a Christian. Yet during his time in power he’s advanced the same “woke” agenda—often at the direct expense of the very people he was elected to represent.

Under his leadership, billions of dollars in fraud have slipped through the cracks—fraud he allowed to happen because protecting his political coalition mattered more than protecting taxpayers. In particular, critics say he looked the other way to maintain support among Somali voters in Minnesota—many of whom critics argue should never have been here in the first place.

Yesterday on Capitol Hill, Walz sat before lawmakers acting like he had no idea any of it happened. But the numbers tell the story.

Listen.

Do the math—that’s 343 times the amount in just seven years.

And as shocking as the financial waste is, it’s not just money flying out the window. Minnesotan lives have also been put at risk by his policies.

Policies that hand out free education, free healthcare, and even driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants—many of whom don’t speak English, can’t read English, and shouldn’t be operating vehicles on public roads.

Here’s more from the hearing.

This is the modern Democratic Party—the one arguing that illegal immigrants deserve commercial driver’s licenses while Minnesotans apparently don’t deserve the right to drive home safely.

That’s not American.

That’s insanity.

Like I said, I remember when Democrats still acted like Americans.

You don’t have to support every military action in the Middle East. Reasonable people can disagree about war. But if you’re an elected official representing the United States, you don’t undermine the commander-in-chief in the middle of an international conflict.

Hakeem Jeffries has spent the past week doing exactly that in front of every television camera he can find.

The Democratic Party has developed a habit: if the person leading the country isn’t someone they like, they root for America to fail.

Iran has been targeting American forces, consulates, and embassies for decades. Yet Jeffries goes on national television to signal that he doesn’t support the commander-in-chief responding to those attacks.

That’s weakness. And it deliberately fuels division here at home.

Jeffries claims Libya and Iran are two completely different situations. Fine. But here’s what Democrats themselves said less than two decades ago when the issue looked remarkably similar.

Somewhere along the way, something changed.

The Democratic Party that once wrapped itself in the American flag has increasingly traded patriotism for ideology—an agenda that undermines the very foundations that made this country exceptional.

What we’re seeing now is a party that mocks faith, promotes radical social experiments, throws open the borders, and undermines American leadership on the world stage.

That’s not the America many of us grew up with.

And as long as this transformation continues, we’ll keep calling it out—again and again.

Though if history is any guide, Democrats returning to the principles that once grounded them may be about as likely as pigs flying.
