The internet collectively laughed their rear ends off over the weekend and said, “wait – what?” when New York City Mayor and Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani mandated five forms of ID just to sign up as a paid emergency snow shoveler during the weekend’s blizzard – even as he and his party continue to oppose voter ID requirements at the ballot box.
Yes, if you wanted to sign up to make some money shoveling snow in NYC during the weekend blizzard, you needed two wallet-sized photos, two original IDs (plus copies), and a Social Security card to qualify for a $19.14/hr governmental gig.
Mamdani is now begging New Yorkers to sign up to shovel snow after mountains of snow and garbage were left on the streets for weeks.
He asks people to register online to shovel snow which requires ID

Meanwhile, most registered voters in Gotham stroll into a polling place without producing anything more than their name – and maybe a memory of when they last lived somewhere.
Social media erupted with conservatives all over X making fun of the rules, asking “Since when does shoveling snow require more bureaucracy than shaping the future of a democracy?”
One commenter on X jokingly labeled it “Jim SNOW 2.0,” poking fun at Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuckie Schumer’s claim that the voter ID law is racist.
Not to be outdone in Mamdani’s lunacy, New York Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul allowed bars and liquor stores to unlock their doors at 6 a.m. on Sunday morning so revelers wouldn’t miss a moment of hockey-fueled celebration. Nothing says responsible governance like a sunrise happy hour!
Tomorrow, it’s a gold medal morning 🇺🇸
I’ve directed the State Liquor Authority to suspend enforcement of alcohol service hours from 6–10 AM so bars and restaurants can open early and fans can watch the U.S. go for the gold together.
This is only for counties not under a State…

And there you have it: one Democrat tightening the screws on sidewalk shovelers, the other popping the cork on pre-dawn bar tabs – all while lecturing the rest of the country about “threats to democracy” when Democrats are the true threats. If irony were snowfall, Mamdani and Hochul just triggered a whiteout.
