Word around Capitol Hill is that more than a dozen Democrats are threatening to boycott President Donald Trump’s upcoming State of the Union address Tuesday night. The reason? The same recycled list of grievances they’ve been spewing for years.
As for the ones who do attend, expect the usual choreographed outrage. There will likely be coordinated outfits, dramatic facial expressions timed for the cameras, and plenty of sign-waving designed for social media clips. Instead of acting like members of Congress at a constitutional event, they’ll most likely treat it like open-mic night at a protest rally.
Do we care if they don’t show up? No. We won’t have to look at their ugly anti-American faces frowning whenever Trump talks about Making America Great Again and deporting criminal illegal aliens. Yes, somehow we will manage without them there.
I won’t attend Trump’s State of the Union on Tuesday.

If a lawmaker or two (or 100) decides to stay home for this year’s speech (or have their own production that no one will be watching), the only noticeable change will be fewer awkward reaction shots for cable news to replay on loop.
Democrats claim their absence would be a “powerful statement” but for most of us reading this, it will be considered a vacation from insanity.
