Where are the Republicans?

President Trump is back in the White House again, and Republicans technically control both the House and the Senate – but you wouldn’t know it by the way they are acting. They don’t seem to know (or care) that they are in charge.

While Democrats in places like Virginia are charging full steam ahead with redistricting plans that could flip as many as four Republican House seats – and doing all kinds of other unfathomable and destructive things that Democrats always do when they have power – Republicans in Washington are… what? Knitting? Holding meetings about meetings? Doom-scrolling their X accounts?

Instead of acting like a governing majority, the GOP is napping through Trump’s second presidency – squandering real leverage while Trump is forced to do the heavy lifting alone. And here’s the problem with that strategy: executive action isn’t permanent. If Republicans don’t use the power voters gave them while they have it, we are all in for a world of hurt when the Dems regain their power. The Left will NOT hold back on packing the Supreme Court, adding Washington DC as a state and fulfilling the rest of their wish list.

Yes, Democrats play the short AND the long game while Republicans don’t usually play at all. Most of the time, the GOP isn’t even on the playing field. Sure, once in a while, one of them has an “issue” they rail against or try to push forward but most of them don’t take Trump’s second win or the MAGA agenda seriously.

And that’s why things are up in the air for the midterms. It’s not just that the Democrats will turn out because they hate Trump. And it’s not just that they will be cheating to win. It’s about MAGA being disgusted with the elected Republicans and because of that, many might sit out the midterms – and I don’t blame them.

There are all kinds of things the Republicans should be doing right now including nuking the filibuster to pass things like the SAVE (The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) Act, which is hot on social media right now. It’s legislation to save our elections by making sure everyone who wants to vote shows proof of citizenship. But the RINOs are running scared on the issue. Why I don’t know. I guess they like to lose elections to fraud and cheating.

So while the Left pushes their agendas forward with gusto and a far better PR strategy than our side has, most of the time the GOP can’t even decide whether it’s Wednesday or Thursday.

Trump can’t do it all himself – and frankly, he won’t be president forever. If the Republicans don’t start acting like they want to win instead of just posting about it on social media, we aren’t going to build lasting MAGA victories, we’re going to lose our majorities and the country is going to go to Hell in a handbasket even worse than when we were living under the rule of Obama and Biden.
