With the holidays fast approaching, Democrats could find themselves in serious trouble if they don’t back the Republican continuing resolution (CR) and get the government running again.
Thanks to the ongoing government shutdown, airports nationwide are feeling a whole lotta turbulence already. With paychecks grounded, air traffic controllers are working without pay, staffing is thinning, and flight delays are piling up [1]. The gears of air travel are slowing to a crawl – and it’s bound to get bumpier as holiday travel gets closer.
If Democrats don’t soon give in and back the Republican CR, they’ll be facing some serious turbulence of their own – especially when travelers can’t make it to Grandma’s house for the holidays.
The four largest airlines, United, Delta, American, and Southwest all endorse the Republican bill and are calling on the Dems to vote for the CR.

If travel collapses, voters are going to notice. If voters notice, Democrats will have to give up their insanity. The Senate Democrats will be forced to choose: filibuster the funding or haplessly watch half of America stay home for Thanksgiving – and maybe Christmas.
If Democrats think voters will forgive grounded flights and ruined holidays, they’re in for a rough landing.
