The annual gobble-fest at the White House took a turn for the zany when President Donald Trump used the ceremonial turkey-pardoning to declare that Biden’s 2024 turkey pardons were invalid. Why? Because, Trump claims, Biden employed an autopen to sign them. Don’t worry though – Trump said that he would re-pardon them.
Trump said at the turkey-pardoning event on Tuesday, “The turkeys known as Peach and Blossom last year have been located and they were on their way to be processed… but I have stopped that journey and I am officially pardoning them, and they will not be served as Thanksgiving dinner.”
The New York Post [1] reports that Trump even mulled naming his own pardoned turkeys “Chuck” and “Nancy” after two Democratic lawmakers he loves to roast. In the end, he settled on the more festive “Gobble” and “Waddle.”
