The progressive (insane) branch of the Democratic Party is losing its collective mind over eight of its own senators daring to vote with Republicans to reopen the government. They’re equally steamed at Senate boss Chuckie Schumer, who either gave the green light for those votes or was too old and foggy to stop it from happening.
Yes, the Democrats are fuming that cooperation with the GOP actually got things moving again – and saved their own voters from a pre-holiday meltdown at airports all across the country. It also saved their voters from sitting at empty kitchen tables because their SNAP benefits had been stopped.
Did the Democrats care about either of these two things that were directly affecting their voters? Not at all. They were holding out because of politics and optics.
While Democrats continue to fight over who “betrayed” the cause, everyday Americans are just relieved they can buy groceries and catch a flight that won’t get delayed or canceled due to unpaid air traffic controllers.
Still, the Left’s purists seem determined to make Schumer the fall guy for the votes to open up the government again – and a “litmus-test” for loyalty to the Resistance. The bottom line: Democrats were willing to let their own voters suffer – all to score another anti-Trump soundbite.
Maybe Dems should send those eight senators a thank-you card instead of bitching about what they did. Because without the bipartisan “betrayal,” Americans’ holiday plans would’ve gone up in smoke faster than a D.C. talking point. And fingers would have been pointing at Democrats as well as the Republicans and President Trump.
