The Democrats’ taxpayer-funded gravy train of political bias just slammed into a Trump- sized stop sign. With President Trump 2.0 back in charge, the $9 billion rescissions package (thanks DOGE!) put the brakes on federal handouts to liberal media havens. The publicly funded echo chambers of NPR and PBS will now have to survive on their own with no more federal allowance from Uncle Sam.
The “Rescissions Act of 2025,” passed by the House and Senate and soon to be signed by Trump, includes a $1.1 billion cut to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. That means no more taxpayer funds for NPR and PBS, the cozy havens of left-wing propaganda.
Even though less than 20% of the income comes from the feds. It’s high time their own folks (leftists) pay for their propaganda.
Tell me WHY exactly we should fund folks who say Trump voters are racist and sexist [1] – or why even though we’re “nice white people” we are still racist [2]??
And while funding the media with taxpayer money doesn’t inherently violate the First Amendment, it can raise serious constitutional and ethical concerns – depending on how it’s handled. And it’s been handled BADLY for quite some time.
PBS president and CEO, Paula Kerger said to the Guardian about the situation, “Many of our stations which provide access to free unique local programming and emergency alerts will now be forced to make hard decisions in the weeks and months ahead.”
And let’s be clear… if these crackpots decide to cut their weather alerts (which hardly anyone relies on), that’s on THEM and shows what their priorities truly are.
The Dems are also losing money for their progressive agenda because of clawbacks from foreign programs and climate slush funds through USAID. That means no more cash for overseas virtue signaling and no more puppet shows in Iraq.
Predictably, the Left is in full meltdown mode, with Democrats and their media allies wailing that the cuts will be “devastating” to the public. In reality, the only thing getting devastated is their taxpayer-funded propaganda machine and the gravy train for their elitist pals.
The Left is also melting down about “former” comedian Stephen Colbert getting the axe from CBS. I say “former” because he hasn’t been funny in about a decade. Citing financial issues (losing money from his show), the network is giving him the boot. Dems want investigations. Here’s the truth, Democrats: Trump’s budget didn’t defund Colbert, but reality did. He sucks.
