Forget civil discourse – we’ve officially hit Molotov levels of disagreement in Michigan. According to the Dickinson County Republican Committee, some nut job – allegedly, of course – thought the best way to voice opposition to President Trump wasn’t with a protest sign or a social media post, but instead he decided to try to ignite and throw actual Molotov cocktails at a building on Saturday, July 13. The target? The GOP headquarters in Iron Mountain, Michigan.
Fortunately, the only thing this radical succeeded in doing was proving how utterly incompetent the anti-Trump crowd has become. Luckily, not only did the attack fail, but the suspect was apprehended by local police before any serious damage could be done. The building, which houses multiple businesses (not just the GOP), survived the alleged terrorist attack – unlike the attacker’s grip on reality.
According to authorities, the motive was “displeasure” with the Trump administration. We’ve seen this movie before: rage-addicted fire-happy ideologues setting ballot boxes [1] on fire in Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. These aren’t protests. They are political pyromania.
While Democrats wag their fingers at Trump and MAGA voters as threats to the country, it’s their side out there hurling Molotov cocktails like they’re vying for a role in Home Alone: Domestic Terrorist Edition.
And let’s not kid ourselves…if this had happened at a Democrat office, we’d be on day three of wall-to-wall media coverage, task forces, and candlelight vigils. But have you heard anything about this before reading this article? Nope.
Jeffery T. Solka, Director of Police and Fire Services in Iron Mountain, issued a statement on Monday afternoon about the incident:
What will our Democratic AG Dana Nessel do about this? Probably not much because it happened to Republicans. Hopefully, Trump’s folks will be all over it.
