In the midst of the 250th celebration of the Army, the No Kings protests and the Iran- Israel conflict, you might have missed the House Republicans actually passing a rescissions bill which basically puts a lot of the DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) cuts into the reality of actual legislation.

In a rare act of fiscal sanity, the Republican-led House narrowly passed a rescissions bill to yank back $9.4 billion in discretionary spending – much of it earmarked for foreign aid giveaways and the taxpayer-funded soapboxes at NPR and PBS. The 214-212 vote split mostly along party lines, with Republicans saying “enough” and Democrats in tears over the budget cuts.

Unserious Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) complained that lawmakers were targeting Elmo and Big Bird.

Despite being branded as the executioners of Big Bird and Elmo, House Republicans finally proved they have both a calculator and a spine.

But don’t worry about Big Bird and Elmo. I doubt they will end up jobless. Even if NPR and PBS can’t be self-supporting (because they suck), the two cultural icons can probably land a gig on Netflix or The View.
