In a recent interview on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime,” billionaire and DOGE czar Elon Musk declared Mars as humanity’s “life insurance,” citing the eventual expansion of the sun as a reason to colonize the Red Planet.
Musk envisions a self-sustaining Martian city, independent of Earth, to ensure humanity’s survival. He emphasized the need for Mars to thrive without Earth’s support, stating, “If the resupply ships are necessary for Mars to survive, then we have not created life insurance.”
SpaceX plans to launch uncrewed Starship missions to Mars by 2026, with potential human landings as early as 2029.
Starship departs for Mars at the end of next year, carrying Optimus.
If those landings go well, then human landings may start as soon as 2029, although 2031 is more likely. https://t.co/JRBB95sgNN

While Musk’s vision is ambitious, critics point out that the sun’s expansion is millions, if not billions, of years away, questioning the urgency of colonizing Mars. These are clearly lazy and unimaginative people who don’t like to plan ahead – most likely the same ones who kept federal and FAA systems running on 1980s software.
Regardless of the criticism, Musk remains committed to making humanity a multi- planetary species. For an overview of Musk’s Mars colonization plan, you can watch the video here.
