If there’s one thing Democrats love, it’s government waste i.e. using taxpayer dollars for their pet projects. And if there’s one thing they hate, it’s anyone trying to clean it up. With Elon Musk and DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) exposing their waste and corruption, they are not happy campers right now.
Democrats also love a good “show” where they can scream and yell and go viral on social media as representatives of the “resistance” against President Trump. And that’s what they are preparing to do this week.
On Wednesday, February 12th at 10:00 a.m. ET, there is going to be a hearing for the newly minted Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE). The title for the hearing is “The War on Waste: Stamping Out the Scourge of Improper Payments and Fraud.” This has Democrats frothing at the mouth before this first hearing even begins.
Republican Chairwoman and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, perhaps the only recognizable figure on the committee, will be leading the Republican charge. Republicans are aiming to put the federal bureaucracy on trial, exposing the billions lost to fraud, incompetence, and political favoritism.
Democrats on the committee (not one name that you’re probably ever heard before) have already declared it a brawl zone even before the hearing begins.
Democratic Rep. Robert Garcia from California made it clear that the DOGE hearings won’t be your standard congressional snooze-fest. “We’re gonna view this as a bar fight,” Garcia told the newsroom of NOTUS. He added, “There’s a lot of decorum in Congress, and that’s fine, but these people have no interest in decorum, and they have no interest in truth, and they have no interest in following the rules…And so in that situation, you also have to match that energy.”
The ranking Democrat on the subcommittee, Rep. Melanie Stansbury, has dubbed her squad the “resistance” – apparently referring to being the resistance to uncovering wasteful spending and corruption against those trying to expose it.
Texas U.S. Rep., Democrat Jasmine Crockett warned “It’s gonna be a sh*t show.”
In other words, Democrats are already admitting that they have no real defense of government waste or any interest in exposing it – so instead, they’ll just be throwing a fit and yelling that Musk wasn’t elected to anything and is a threat to the country.
The Dems need distract everyone from the message so they will go after the messenger. Expect shouting, performative outrage, and dramatic monologues for the cameras as they desperately try to turn this hearing into their latest resistance theater. But no matter how loud they get, the facts won’t change: taxpayers are getting fleeced, and DOGE will there ready to put the receipts on display.
