In a new “Karen” saga, a Minnesota hospital had to issue a heartfelt apology for an unforgivable crime: handing out free Chick-fil-A sandwiches. Forget about actual healthcare crises – this is the real emergency.
According to the Daily Wire, Essentia Health in Duluth scrambled to save face after a few brave employees (heroes, really) voiced their horror over the presence of free chicken from a fast-food chain founded by – gasp – a Christian. And “sandwichgate” soon commenced.
Apparently, it takes “courage” to complain about a sandwich in 2024. Not courage to perform surgery, save lives, or battle pandemics. Nope, it’s the gall to take issue with free food that makes someone a modern-day warrior.

In an email dripping with corporate self-flagellation, a senior VP at the hospital reassured staff that the hospital values “respect and justice,” which clearly means canceling lunch options that offend delicate sensibilities of the anti-Christians. The email went on to quote Maya Angelou, because nothing says inclusivity like weaponizing poetry against poultry.
Chick-fil-A, of course, has long been a punching bag for leftist activists who object to the company’s Christian roots and charitable giving to folks like the Salvation Army. Ironically, Chick-fil-A also champions diversity and inclusion in its employment practices, but hey, facts are just pesky little things, aren’t they?
Meanwhile, Essentia Health – ever so “inclusive” – offers cross-sex hormones to minors and has performed surgeries on young patients as part of its gender-affirming care program. But sandwiches? That’s where the real moral outrage lies.
The hospital promises to “learn” from this grave oversight, as if serving up waffle fries and chicken strips is akin to violating the Geneva Conventions. No word yet on whether future lunches will require a committee vote, focus groups, and perhaps a UN resolution before lunch is served.
As Christian-owned Chick-fil-A continues to lose over $1 billion annually by honoring Sundays as a day of rest, it’s hard not to chuckle at the irony of employees at a Catholic hospital taking offense at a Christian-owned business.
In a world drowning in real crises – wars, economic meltdowns, and healthcare shortages – Essentia Health chose a chicken sandwich as its hill to die on. So, the next time the left preaches about their unmatched tolerance and inclusivity, just remember: actions speak louder than sandwiches.
