Yes, it’s been almost two weeks and we’re no closer to knowing the identity of the person who leaked Justice Samuel Alito’s opinion in the Dobbs case out of the Supreme Court.
The democrat party has been hemorrhaging support for Biden and their policies among the American people due to inflation, supply chain problems, the crime wave, illegal immigration and more. So they had to change the narrative.
Leaking Alito’s opinion did just that because it showed that the court may be on track to overturn Roe v. Wade – and the democrats need to use that as a wedge issue in the upcoming elections.
The Alito opinion was written back in February but the democrats held on to their ace in the hole until May when they could use it to their advantage to fundraiser, protest and put the attention on something else besides Biden’s incompetence.
The Scotus Blog [1] points to three leaks.
Leak number one – the Wall Street Journal [2] editorial board said the court voted to overrule Roe v. Wade but there is still wrangling going on with Chief Justice Roberts. They predicted Alito was writing a majority draft but gave no reasoning on how they knew that. That was April 26th.
Then we have leak number two – to Politico, telling them that Alito, Kavanaugh, Barrett, Thomas and Gorsuch had voted to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Leak number three was also to Politico [3] – and is the main leak we all know about having to do with releasing Alito’s draft opinion.
Justice Alito [4]spoke about the leak at a conference on Friday in Dallas where is said, “When you lose that trust, especially in the institution that I’m in, it changes the institution fundamentally. You begin to look over your shoulder. It’s like kind of an infidelity that you can explain it, but you can’t undo it.”
The Scotus Blog calls the leak “an extraordinary and unethical breach of confidence and certainly caused very deep concern inside the court.”
They go on to say “That leak was a historically unprecedented violation of the deepest and most solemn trust among the justices and the court’s staff. It wounded the institution.”
But that’s just fine with the democrats. They don’t hold the court in any kind of high regard when they are outnumbered by justices appointed by the other political party. They will do what they need to in order to destroy the court’s legitimacy and threaten them when they don’t get what they want.
The leak is just another PR game that the democrats are playing to help them in the upcoming elections.
And it appears that the timing of the leak’s release was planned with The White House. VP Kamala Harris was conveniently scheduled for a pro-abortion speaking engagement with Emily’s List the next day after the leak.
There are no coincidences in politics.
Dan Bongino calls it a “planned op [5]” and a call for violence against the Supreme Court.
The Wall Street Journal editorial board says there’s an argument to be had that the court should move to publish its decision ASAP.
I agree. Why not?
WSJ says, “we hate to say this but some abortion fanatic could decide to commit an act of violence to stop a 5-4 ruling. It’s an awful thought, but we live in fanatical times.”
True enough. Get it done and over with.
Shut off the nut jobs who think they can sway opinions with their ugly behavior.
In the meantime, America First Legal [6], who is run by senior members of the Trump administration including Stephen Miller and Mark Meadows, has requested documents from the Department of Justice regarding the May 2nd leak of the Supreme Court’s draft majority opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
Their Freedom of Information Request asks for records going back to December 1, 2021 including communications with March for Life, Emily’s List, Politico, Wall Street Journal and more. Also requested are emails and other additional records.
If the leak was done by a republican-appointed justice or staff member and was something that would hurt the democrat party, we’d know who the leaker is by now.
The leftists would be moving heaven and earth, hacking into computers, looking at phone records, etc. to find out who it is and reveal that information to the public.
The fact that the leaker is still not known points to yet another corrupt democrat political operation.
