For those of you who didn’t watch the Oscars (probably 98% of you reading this), you missed actor Will Smith hitting comedian Chris Rock in the face.
You’ve probably seen the video though. It’s all over the news and Twitter. If you didn’t, here’s the unedited version [1].
Chris Rock made a joke about Will’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s baldness and her playing the part in an upcoming GI Jane 2 movie. Jada doesn’t have any hair because she has a condition called alopecia areta.
Will Smith, who initially laughed about the joke (who does that?) subsequently got up, walked towards Rock and hit him in the face.
My opinion on the matter is that Smith got busted laughing at a joke about his wife (who wasn’t happy about it) and had to hit Rock to save his own credibility – both for his wife and his own reputation.
Afterwards, Will won the award for Best Actor and he proceeds to cry and whine about how hard it is to be an actor. Boo hoo hoo…
And he told everyone he wanted to be a vessel of love.
Yes, he certainly proved that by assaulting someone.
But I digress…
The point of the matter is that it was an assault.
On national TV. In front of millions. And on video.
But there are no legal consequences.
Of course not.
What if it was Mel Gibson (a white conservative) who punched Chris Rock? People would be up in arms and complaining that Mel didn’t get arrested.
So it appears that the great Will Smith doesn’t turn out to be much of a role model after all.
For any of us. For white or for black people.
Or even for his own son. His son Jaden tweeted, “And that’s how we do it.”
Really?
Do what? Use the “F” bomb on live TV and assault people?
The Oscars are pretty sad with all of their politics and elitist narcissist millionaires on parade. No one really cares about them anymore. No one watches the crap they produce anymore.
Last night’s show didn’t improve their image.
And what should have been a glorious day of his shining achievement, all Will Smith did was destroy his “Mr. Nice Guy” image. And he tarnished is own big day by acting like an idiot.
But don’t worry, he won’t be arrested.
Because no one seems to be arrested lately. Especially democrats. No matter what they do.
Chris Rock didn’t file a police report [2] so that’s the end of that.
Unless he changes his mind in the next six months.
We’ll see what their agents decide as far as what is best for the PR move for both of them.
Or is THAT what all of this is about? PR?
Is this all a scam, as with everything that the democrats do?
Check out Will’s Instagram post that showed up online before he and Jada headed off to the Oscars. He says that he and Jada “got all dressed up to choose chaos [3].”
