California Democrat Actually Tells the Truth, Doesn’t Want Small Businesses to Exist

We’ve known for a long time that democrats don’t believe in small businesses.

A small business is the example of success. It means that someone has attained the American dream and doesn’t need the government or a Democratic politician to help them out.

It means that there is a business owner who made it on their own, despite herculean taxation and regulations by local, state and federal governments mostly enacted by oppressive democrats.

During the pandemic, it’s been more than obvious how little the Democratic party thinks of small business as they keep them shuttered as long as possibles – restaurants, gyms, movie theaters and many others.

Small businesses all over the country have taken a hit and have shut down, many permanently.

But Menards, Target, Walmart and Home Depot… those are all essential businesses.

While small businesses go under, their Democrat buddies at Amazon have never had it so good. They’re having record sales and recently reported their first $100 billion quarter after holiday and pandemic spending. Their revenue actually hit $125.56 billion to be exact.

Now we have clueless Democratic REP Ro Knanna who is from California (shocking) and said on CNN on Sunday that we should not want “low-wage businesses [1]” – businesses who can’t afford to pay their workers at least $15/hr.

Never mind that when businesses are mandated to raise their employees wages, jobs are lost and businesses are shut down. It’s documented by facts and history.

And Knanna seems to be ignoring the report by the Congressional Budget Office where they predicted by 2025, if you raised the minimum wage to $15/hr. today, 1.4 million Americans would lose their jobs.

CNN Anchor Abby Phillip actually brought up the fact that businesses are already struggling during the pandemic and retail and restaurants especially wouldn’t be able to pay those wages, suggesting and now might not be good timing to bring up this kind of legislation.

But Khanna plowed right ahead and said it was “absolutely the right time to give working Americans a raise.”

Phillip pressed him by asking how a mom and pop business struggling to keep their doors open could afford to do what he wants and still keep people on the payroll.

Khanna would not be deterred. He said, “Well, they shouldn’t be doing it by paying people low wages. We don’t want low-wage businesses. Most successful small businesses can pay a fair wage.”

Khanna continued by saying, “I don’t want small businesses that are underpaying employees. It’s fair for people to be making what they’re producing. I think $15 is very reasonable in this country.”

So democrats don’t want “low-wage” businesses – farm stands, ice cream stands, local restaurants, copy shops, craft stores, knick-knack stores, donut shops, coffee bars, local garden centers, courier services, cleaning services, home care, nursing home and assisted living centers, lawn care services… the list goes on and on.

$15/hr. is NOT an actual reasonable minimum wage for the entire country.

Like I said, the clueless REP lives in California which has a much higher cost of living and they already pay much higher wages – they even did back in 1988 when a friend of mine moved there. He was going to make three times more than he was making in Michigan but he said that he’d bring home less after taxes, the cost of his apartment and other expenses.

And each business is different. They have different regulations, expenses and profit margins based on the type of business they have and how it’s run.

But that’s not something that Democrat politicians know about or care about. Many of them never actually having regular jobs in the private sector and most not ever running a business.

I guess we just need to figure out how to get all of our products and services from Amazon, Menards, Target, Walmart and Home Depot.
