No, the Trump Administration Did NOT Claim They Ended the Pandemic

The media is all agog, telling everyone that the press release sent out by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy about their new report says that the president thinks that he has ended the COVID-19 pandemic.

As usual, the media never cares about context or puts anything into perspective. When a vague or ambiguous statement is said by Trump or released by The White House, the leftist media complex paints Trump as evil incarnate and acts like there is a national crisis and Trump needs to be impeached.

The report itself is called “Advancing America’s Global Leadership in Science & Technology – Highlights from 2017 to 2020.”

In the description of the document, it says that the report is a selection of significant investments, accomplishments, policies, and other actions undertaken by President Trump to advance science and technology.

In announcing this report, a press release was sent out. The press release highlights several things with each header starting with similar type words describing what the White House has been working on.

These words include: ending, strengthening, understanding and protecting. Those were the first words in each of the four headers.

The leftist media is hyperventilating about the header that says “ENDING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.”

Just like everything else in the list – and the report – they highlight what they have been working on (and still are).

Nothing in the report says that the president has ended the pandemic.

And even in the press release, after it says “Ending the COVID-19 Pandemic” there is a colon and it says, “From the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Administration has taken decisive actions to engage scientists and health professionals in academia, industry, and government to understand, treat and defeat the disease.”

All four headers describe things that the Trump administration have been working on and still are. In fact, one of the headers even has the word “future” in it.

So, yes, Trump has been working on ending the COVID-19 pandemic.

But left wing media hacks like Politico and Huffington Post seized on the press release, calling the White House’s claims inaccuracies and lies. What claims?

Did they care about the rest of the paragraph in the press release? No.

Did they care to read the report? I doubt it.

The report talks about the Trump administration combatting the virus, enabling and empowering industry and government, fighting the virus and much more – as an ongoing effort.

And the report actually says, “Today the Trump Administration is continuing its response not only to the pandemic, but also preparing for future biological threats.”

Continuing its response. It’s not over.

You would think that so-called “journalists” would read something before they wrote an article about it and not purposely try to be disingenuous.

But truth is not their objective. Not their goal.

Their goal is to defeat Trump.

The media is continuously focusing on phrases from Trump or his administration they can twist into a Trump scandal.

These journalists must have went to English class in school and I’m sure most took classes in writing and journalism.

They know that there are journalism standards and ethics. And they have Google if they don’t know what certain words mean.

But their Trump Derangement Syndrome takes over and they throw all that to the wind.

The word “ending” describes something that it in progress just like the other words strengthening, understanding and protecting. The Trump administration didn’t highlight programs that had been ended, strengthened, understood and protected like they were all done dealing with those things.

And just because something is listed as an accomplishment doesn’t mean the problems aren’t still being worked on and the leftist media knows it.

Most everything we do in life is an ongoing accomplishment.

If we meet a certain goal, is our work stopped? No. Because the accomplishment would become undone.

If a doctor saves a heart patient on a Monday, you don’t know what’s going to happen to that person on Thursday. Work is still being done to help the patient recover.

But what the doctor did up to that point can certainly be seen as an accomplishment.

The White House report showed absolutely NO intent from the Trump administration to tell people that the pandemic has been ended by the president.

This is just another episode in the media’s never-ending political soap opera where Trump is the villain no matter what happens on every given day.

Let’s use a little perspective with their insanity and make a comparison, shall we?

The Affordable Care Act is listed all over the internet as an Obama achievement.

Seriously?

When was this decided?

Lots of people on Obamacare insurance have lost their doctors. People are losing choices. Premiums are going up. Deductibles are sky-high. It’s changed. It’s going to court. Parts of it are still being implemented but not all. And someday it might be gone.

This article from last year calls Obamacare a success [1]. A success? Already? What about next month? Things could change. It’s ongoing. You can’t declare it a success if it’s ongoing.

Not according to the leftist media. But oh yeah, those rules only apply to Trump.
