Five years after her difficult divorce from Narvel Blackstock, her husband of 26 years, country music legend Reba McEntire has found love again this year with former “CSI: Miami” actor Rex Linn. Now, new details about their “magical” romance have come to light, and fans could not be any happier for her.
“Reba is absolutely smitten by Rex and thinks he’s just fabulous and such a sweetheart,” a source close to McEntire told Closer Weekly. “She describes him as a breath of fresh air [and] says that Rex is such a caring and understanding man.”
The insider added that McEntire gets “butterflies whenever she hears his voice,” and friends of the couple often joke that “he’s her No. 1 fan.”
Linn, 63, has acted as “a shoulder” for McEntire, 65, “to lean on” ever since they went on their first date in January. Between COVID-19 and the death of her mother in March, this has been a tough year for McEntire, and Linn has been there for her through it all. The source said that before they were reunited in Montana earlier this month, the couple was “spending hours chatting on FaceTime” amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
“He’s helped save her from her struggle with anxiety and depression during the pandemic,” the insider said, adding that McEntire has “opened up to him about her devastation” over the divorce of her former stepson Brandon Blackstock’s divorce from the singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson.
“[Linn] is full of good, constructive advice,” the source explained, adding that they are perfect for each other because they “share a ton of similar interests.”
“They’re both from Oklahoma and have fun conversations about their past and their careers. Rex is a great listener and storyteller,” said the insider.
Linn also doesn’t find it intimidating to be dating a country music icon like McEntire.
“As an actor, Rex understands the downside of fame,” the source explained. “He’s nowhere [near] as big of a star as Reba, but she likes [that] there is no competition or clash of egos and he loves her music!”
In the end, McEntire’s romance with Linn could not be going any better.
“Reba can’t remember feeling so strongly about a man,” the insider continued. “Reba and Rex have been dating for longer than anyone knows. They’re totally head over heels in love.”
