Two men were arrested this week for allegedly plotting terrorist attacks on various major American targets, including Trump Tower.
Kristopher Sean Matthews, of Elgin, South Carolina, has been accused with conspiring with ISIS terrorists over the course of several months, according to the New York Post [1]. One of the people he conspired with was a Texas man named Jaylyn Christopher Molina, according to court papers.
Matthews and Molina, who were each arrested on Monday, reportedly talked about various possible sites for U.S. terror attacks. Matthews wanted to “hit government centers” rather than places “like malls where innocent children are,” the court documents state.
“We need to stick together, we need to defeat them, we need to take a lot of casualties, a lot of numbers,” Molina allegedly wrote in a secret chat group in which they pledged their loyalty to ISIS, the FBI said.
“Let it be clear, I am against America,” Molina allegedly wrote in the chat. “America is my enemy.”
Back in May, Matthews said they should target state and Social Security buildings, as well as the New York Stock Exchange or Trump Tower in New York.
Molina responded by saying that as little as four people “could be enough” to successfully complete this attack. Matthews added that if they “accomplished the mission,” they would achieve “rock star status baby.”
“This could be Netflix worthy,” he said.
The complaint goes on to say that the two men also planned possible attacks at the headquarters of the CIA, the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
“I would hit places like that to send a message,” Matthews wrote. “In my opinion if you really want to do some damage and make a statement I would have a team … have a 3 to 4 man team and everyone spreads out … hit different sides then boom engulf them.”
Matthews and Molina have been charged with conspiring to provide material support or resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization. If they are convicted, they each face up to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and a lifetime of supervised release.
