Royal insider Lady Colin Campbell just spoke out to slam Meghan Markle once again, this time accusing her of exploiting her husband Prince Harry’s weaknesses in a way that is “very reminiscent of Lady Macbeth,” the legendary Shakespearian villainess.
Campbell, who was a friend of Harry’s mother Princess Diana, claimed that Meghan has “played on Harry’s weaknesses,” going on to accuse her of behaving “completely unacceptably” by coaxing Harry away from his family. In William Shakespeare’s play “Macbeth,” the character of Macbeth’s overly ambitious wife encourages him to pursue his own self-serving dreams, only for it to end badly for them both.
“Meghan’s influence is very reminiscent of Lady Macbeth,” Campbell told The Sun [1]. “It’s so sad because I remember Harry growing up and he was great with my kids. To gain a toehold over Harry she appears to have played to his weaknesses, just as Katherine has played to William’s strengths.”
“Meghan shares a lot of Harry’s weaknesses. He is hyper-emotional, over-the-top, rushes where wise people don’t and is extremely self-important,” she added. “The way she has acted is completely unacceptable in the Royal Family. Even Diana knew how to be a princess and when to toe the line. Meghan appears, to me, very good at talking the talk and not walking the walk. She is leading Harry down a path he will struggle to find his way back from. I fear for them.”
Campbell went on to accuse Harry and Meghan of “insulting the public’s intelligence” by claiming that they had nothing to do with the upcoming book “Finding Freedom” by royal authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.
“I call the book Funding Freedom and Finding Freebies. I feel they have been so disingenuous,” she said.“For me, they are insulting the public’s intelligence by saying they had nothing to do with it. It would be career suicide for them to admit they had anything to do with the book. I think it shows that Harry and Meghan don’t play cricket with a straight bat. The book, to me, read like a howl of anger.”
“Finding Freedom” reportedly claims that Meghan was not welcomed into the British royal family with open arms, but Campbell was not having any of that.
“I find it very puzzling to say that. The first Christmas that Meghan was on the scene, William and Katherine invited the two of them to stay at their house at Sandringham,” she said. “This was unprecedented. They were not married, and the royals had never before shared Christmas at Sandringham with anyone until after marriage. If that was not a sign of welcoming someone with open arms, I’m not sure what is.”
Campbell went on to talk about how her late friend Diana raised Harry and his older brother Prince William.
“Diana would always say to me that William was like his father. She would jokingly say, ‘Harry is an airhead like me’. She used to spoil Harry rotten while William was treated normally,” Campbell explained. “Harry got used to having what he wanted, it seemed to me, which he has taken into his adult life. William always had more gravitas but Harry has a lot of Diana in him.”
“Harry’s always been quite impulsive, as he’s proven with Meghan,” she continued. “He was quite wild as a child — warm-hearted but wild. He was always quick-tempered. In his late teens he almost got involved in a fight with a man (a paparazzi) his father’s age during a night out. He had to be bundled home by his security.”
Campbell concluded by saying that Harry and Meghan should “count their blessings instead of feeling they have been let down”.
“They don’t know how good they’ve got it,” she added. “They should just embrace their life. Unfortunately, Harry’s not got much going for him other than he was born a prince.”
“He would struggle to hold down a job stacking shelves in Tesco. He’s never lived in the real world,” Campbell said. “Meghan was a D-list actress in a show on a cable channel. To think they can change the world is remarkably naive.”
