“Fugitive Grandma” Who Killed Look-A-Like And Stole Her Identity Receives 2nd Life Sentence For Killing Husband!

On Tuesday, Lois Riess, 58, the “fugitive granny,” received a second life sentence for the murder of her husband after pleading guilty to first-degree murder. She was initially convicted of killing a lookalike in Florida.

In July, Riess pleaded not guilty in a pretrial hearing in Dodge County District Court after being extradited from Florida to Minnesota in the killing of her husband, David.

After killing her husband, Riess went to Fort Myers Beach, Fla., and befriended a woman who had a similar appearance to hers. She told her identity and fatally shot her. Riess admitted to killing Pamela Hutchinson, 59, in her rented condo room.

Riess then fled to Texas in Hutchinson’s car, making stops at Louisiana casinos. She was arrested in Hutchinson’s death in South Padre Island, Texas, on April 19, 2018, according to authorities.

Riess’s attorney stated that she shot her husband in the heart after he handed her a gun and told her to “kill herself.” The couple had been arguing about leaving Riess’s grandson’s basketball game, according to the report.

Riess received national attention in 2018 and was nicknamed the “fugitive grandma” due to her white hair.
