Prosecutors dropped yet another bomb this week in the case of Ghislaine Maxwell, the alleged former madam of the late billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, when they revealed that she is secretly married and refusing to reveal who her husband is.

The New York Post reported that this was revealed in court on Tuesday, when Manhattan prosecutors accused Maxwell of purposely hiding the extent of her wealth.

“In addition to failing to describe in any way the absence of proposed co-signers of a bond, the defendant also makes no mention whatsoever about the financial circumstances or assets of her spouse whose identity she declined to provide to Pretrial Services,” Assistant US Attorney Alison Moe told Manhattan federal Judge Alison Nathan during the hearing, which was conducted virtually.

Moe went on to say that, “There’s no information about who will be co-signing this bond or their assets, and no details whatsoever.”

Maxwell’s lawyers argued during the hearing that she should be released on a $5 million bond, but prosecutors successfully fired back by claiming that she poses an “extreme” flight risk for a variety of reasons. These reasons include Maxwell allegedly lying about her overall wealth, spending the past year hiding from authorities, and even purchasing the New Hampshire estate where she was arrested using a fake identity.

A New Hampshire real estate agent who sold the 58 year-old British socialite the Bedford mansion where she was arrested said that she bought it while posing as a journalist named Jen Marshall.

“The real estate agent told the FBI agent the buyers for the house introduced themselves as Scott and Jen Marshall. Both had British accents,” Moe said of the December transaction. “Scott Marshall told her he was retired from the British military and was currently working on a book. Jen Marshall described herself as a journalist.”

“They told the agent they wanted to purchase the property quickly through a wire and they were setting up an LLC,” she added.

Nathan ended up refusing to set bail for Maxwell, meaning that she will be incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center until her trial, which is scheduled for next July. She was arrested two weeks ago on a six-count indictment charging her with recruiting and grooming young women to be sexually abused by Epstein, and she is accused of sometimes participating in the abuse herself.
