So apparently, there was an “emergency” in Montpelier, Vermont and a Black Lives Matter mural needed to be painted immediately in order to save the city from systemic racism.
But when citizens petitioned to paint an American flag and the phrase “Liberty and Justice for All” in front of the Vermont State House, the request was denied.
No go. Not on my watch. No way, people.
What are you trying to do, be patriotic and support the country?
How awful.
The Montpelier city council said that 45 days are needed to approve a street closure in order to get the sign painted.
Okay. That sounds like a legitimate excuse, right?
But wait…BLM didn’t have to wait.
After all, it was an “emergency” so the city didn’t make them wait the 45 days. They hardly had to wait an entire 24 hours in fact.
John Klar, a GOP gubernatorial candidate and one of the petitioners, has said he’ll take the city to court over their bias since they decided to choose one type of political speech over another in a public venue.
Casey, one of the council members who denied the petition, appears to have a bias against Klar as well. He said, “I don’t think all conservatives are racist either, John. But I definitely think you are so I’ll absolutely oppose this.”
