Sen. Tim Scott is the only Black Republican in the U.S. Congress and he sat down with Chris Wallace on Sunday morning to discuss the Minneapolis protests and riots happening all over the country.

Wallace brought up Trump’s tweets including one that used the quote “when the looting starts, the shooting starts,” and “Nobody came close to breaching the fence. If they had, they would have been greeted with the most vicious dogs, and most ominous weapons.”

The Fox News host wanted to know if the Senator thought that type of talk was constructive. Scott talked about the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police department, “the absolute devastation of too many African-American males, over too many decades, frankly.”

Wallace then asked Scott if he spoke “truth to power” about the president’s tweets.

Scott quickly said, “I used similar words that you just used. The president will listen if you engage him with the facts of the issue and then you ask him to focus his attention on making progress as one nation under God.”
