[VIDEO] MS Residents Who Snitched on Lockdown “Rule-Breakers” Scared After their Names Are Made Public

It really doesn’t pay to be a tattletale, especially when you’re tattling to the government on fellow Americans.

I am in Michigan, which has some of the harshest lockdown orders. Yesterday, my neighbor had a big BBQ. Cars everywhere, kids laughing and splashing in the pool, adults being rowdy…it never once dawned on me to “call the cops.”  Honestly, what kind of person does this?

If you want to stay inside, fine. If you have people who are “high risk” please, keep them inside. My mother is very high-risk. She has diabetes and heart disease, among other ailments (and old age) that make her very, very susceptible to Coronavirus – but my neighbors having a BBQ or a business being open has no impact on her because she’s my responsibility and I keep her safe.

I take issue with people who believe it’s other people’s responsibility to keep their family members safe. My mother’s laundry list of medical issues is not your problem or your responsibility. My hope is that you don’t want to catch any virus that’s floating around and will be a responsible adult and wash your hands and use common sense for yourself and your family.

That’s what these people should feel after they snitched on neighbors and businesses for “breaking the rules” during lockdown…because now their names have been made public for all the world to see.

More than 900 tips in the community led to 29 businesses receiving citations last month but many of those who called in and wrote at the government’s urging did not expect their complaints — and their personal information — to become public, KSDK-TV reported.

The information was released after a request under the state’s Sunshine Law, which ensures transparency in government business. While many tipsters asked to remain anonymous in submitting their emailed entries, apparently they did not pay attention to the fine print in the terms and conditions that noted their information may be shared publicly.

“I’m not only worried about COVID, I’m worried about someone showing up at my door, showing up at my workplace or me getting fired for doing what is right,” a woman named Patricia, who filed a tip, told KSDK in a video interview.

“When there is something that happens next time, I’m not going to feel safe or protected enough to call the local authorities,” she said.

“We’re in a society where doing what’s right doesn’t always get rewarded,’ she said. ‘We have to be extra careful because we don’t have the strength to fight this,” Patricia, who has Lupus and lives with others who have auto-immune diseases, claimed.

“I saw a lot of businesses that were non-essential that were open and had lines outside, parking lots filled as if the order didn’t matter to them. And that was kinda frustrating,” she added.

Here’s a good rule of thumb: don’t do something in secret that you wouldn’t do out in the open. If you follow that rule, you’ll be a much happier – and better person.
