Two Minneapolis police officers are on paid administrative leave, pending an investigation into a disturbing video that shows one of them pinning a black suspect to the ground before the man appears to suffocate and pass out. He later died at the hospital.

As the report goes, around 8 p.m. on Monday, police officers were called to the scene to investigate an alleged forgery at a business, according to police spokesman John Elder. When they arrived on the scene, officers found a man, believed to be in his 40s, matching the suspect’s description sitting in his car.
He was then ordered to get out of his car, and when he did, he physically resisted officers. Elder said in a statement. “Officers were able to get the suspect into handcuffs and noted he appeared to be suffering medical distress.”
If you have never been to the point of being choked out, then you don’t know what a person is going through.
What happened to the police phrase “up against the wall”? Ever since the nineties, police are trained to throw people on the ground and drop their knee in their back, head, or neck. We are shown this on TV all the time. While most people who watched this on TV are judging if the victim is guilty or not guilty, no one is paying attention to this dangerous practice that needs to stop. It was just a matter of time that someone would die.
How is he not obeying when he’s handcuffed and expressing I can’t breathe? how does it turn into he’s resisting.
[Associated Press [2]] A black man has died in Minneapolis police custody after video shared online [3] from a bystander showed a white officer kneeling on his neck during his arrest as he pleaded that he couldn’t breathe.
On Tuesday morning, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey apologized to the black community in a post on his Facebook page [4].
“Being Black in America should not be a death sentence. For five minutes, we watched a white officer press his knee into a Black man’s neck. Five minutes. When you hear someone calling for help, you’re supposed to help. This officer failed in the most basic, human sense,” Frey posted.

Minneapolis police said the man matched the description of a suspect in a forgery case and resisted arrest. The video shows an unidentified officer kneeling on his neck and ignoring his pleas. “Please, please, please I can’t breathe. Please, man,” the man is heard telling the officer.
After several minutes, one of the officers is heard telling the man to “relax.” “Man, I can’t breathe,” the man responds. Several more minutes pass and the man becomes motionless under the officer’s restraint.

Yes, you should not resist the police. But also resisting police should not mean a death sentence.
Some people are mentally not healthy, and most of the time, it’s these people that pay the price. There should be better protocols in place in handling these people by the police.
Cops always demand respect, but how can you respect anything in this video? No wonder “resistance” is instantaneous with them in some cases because the fear factor takes over. There is none here, only hopelessness.
No life was in danger, only his. I hope justice is done.
