There is a lot of confusion when it comes to “COVID-19 deaths.”
A health official in Illinois and Dr. Birx try and explain the process to help alleviate confusion, although, in truth, I think they made it worse.
During a press briefing in Illinois, a health official attempted to clarify how COVID-19 deaths are recorded. She used a hospice patient as an example.

Say your loved one is admitted into hospice with a terminal disease like cancer and at the time they begin hospice treatment they’re given a few weeks to live.
While they’re in hospice receiving end of life treatment for cancer, they contract COVID-19. At the time of death, according to the Illinois health official, their death will be listed as “COVID-19.”
Dr. Birx also appears in the clip during a WH briefing and reiterates that if someone in the hospital with heart disease dies “with” COVOD-19 (not “of” COVID) they are still listed as a “COVID-19” death.

It seems to me that the only time somebody should be listed as a “death by COVID” is when the person legitimately passes on as a direct result of the COVID-19 virus.
Stuff like this is why the public is suspicious of “death numbers” and is confused by “adjusted death numbers.” You can’t blame people, because, by all accounts, this is not how to accurately report deaths, or if it is, it’s not being explained correctly by the experts and is leading to a lot of trust issues and suspicion by a frustrated public.
