As usual, our government is out of control. They’ll let an illegal alien accused rapist free but they’ll send a hairstylist who needs to open her businesses to support her family to jail.

Hairstylist Shelly Luther re-opened her salon Salon a la Mode in Dallas County, Texas because she could no longer afford not to, both for herself and her employees, arguing that her salon is a safe and clean environment with no threat of spreading COVID-19. She could no longer afford to go along with the state’s stay-at-home orders.

Her local law enforcement officers, acting on a complaint from a nearby dog groomer, went to her shop and told her to shut down. She refused.

She opened on April 24th and received a cease and desist letter from Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins which she ripped up at an “Open Texas” rally on the 25th. The video of her doing that went viral.

The temporary restraining order on April 28th mandated that she close her business.

When she had her day in court, she was charged with criminal and civil contempt of court and was told by the Obama-loving and anti-Trump judge that she needed to admit she was wrong and apologize. She refused to do that as well.

She told the judge, “I need to feed my family and my stylists could not feed their families.” She disagreed with the judge who called her selfish. She said, “I have to disagree with you sir, when you say that I’m selfish because feeding my kids – is not selfish. I have hair stylists that are going hungry because they’d rather feed their kids. So sir, if you think the law is more important than kids getting fed, then please go ahead with your decision but I am not going to shut the salon.”

Life-long Democratic Judge Eric Moyé said that she needed to see the error of her ways and “understand that the society cannot function where one’s believe in a concept of liberty permits you to flaunt your disdain for the filings of duly elected officials” and said “you owe an apology to the elected officials who you disrespected by flagrantly ignoring, and in one case defiling, their orders you now know obviously apply to you.”

A concept of liberty? No, the constitution actually PROMISES us liberty, not the concept of it.

This Harvard-schooled judge has pictures and posts about Obama throughout his Facebook page in addition to anti-Trump posts, anti-voter ID posts and other posts on partisan and political issues he shouldn’t be commenting on.

One of the photos Moyé had posted on his Facebook page was a photo of Obama in a red hat that said, “I’ve already made America Great Again.” His newsfeed is full of New York Times articles and opposition to Trump when he was running against Hillary Clinton.

On his website, Moyé calls himself a “dedicated public servant who is passionate about justice.” He also says, “I approach my work each day as a steward of the public trust, maintaining a venue in which both sides have a chance to be heard and in which attorneys and litigants are treated fairly and with respect.”

Respect? Yeah, right. Nice words. Try them in practice sometime.

The judge sentenced Luther to seven days in jail and she has accrued $3500 in fines so far with the fines adding up $500 more every day.

On Friday, hair salons all over Texas will be opening per orders from Texas Governor Greg Abbott who has come out in support of Luther. He said a jail sentence should only be used as a measure of last support. He released a statement that said, “Compliance with executive orders during this pandemic is important to ensure public safety, however, surely there are less restrictive measures to achieve that goal than jailing a Texas mother.”

Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick offered to pay her fines and get her on house arrest and made a $7000 donation to her GoFundMe account. As of the writing of this article, she had received almost $500,000 for her fundraiser.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz tweeted, “7 days in jail for cutting hair? This is NUTS. And government officials don’t get to order citizens to apologize to them for daring to earn a living.”

Her attorney filed a motion with the Texas Supreme Court, asking for her release. She was released from jail on Thursday which was ordered under request for emergency relief while they consider her petition. The response is due by Monday.

Governor Greg Abbott also said on Thursday that he would be eliminating jail time for Texans who violated stay-at-home orders in a modified executive order.

On the other end of things, in “New America” where the government disregards the safety and the freedoms of law abiding citizens, if you are an illegal alien accused rapist, you don’t have to worry about going to jail.

In October of 2019, illegal alien Antonio Ulises Perez, was accused of raping a woman in Oklahoma County and released back into the general public by local law enforcement because they are a sanctuary county. Perez immediately went to the home of the woman he had raped before and was free to re-victimize her.

Oklahoma County sheriff’s office had decided to stop honoring ICE detainers but luckily ICE tracked down Perez.

However, the court did not make him apologize to anyone or say he was wrong. That would just be mean.
