On Thursday, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer thought she would get back at Republicans by issuing new emergency and disaster declarations after the state’s Republican-controlled Legislature refused to extend the existing ones set to expire at midnight.

A large group of Michigan voters will tell you that the Governor’s orders are arbitrary and not based on facts and science. For instance, you can canoe on a river or lake but not use a motorboat. A woman can get an abortion, but I can’t get an abscessed tooth pulled.
I question any ability of the elected government to take civil liberties and prohibit the public from the public spaces. If nothing else, this all will make a great case study in a few years. Maybe we will get to see a governor recalled as well. Politicians serve the people to do the people’s will, not anything else.
Let me also clear up something that has been making its way around the internet. Men with guns did not “storm” the Michigan statehouse. I watched the live feed video of the protest. They walked in after being allowed in by the state police. In addition to the cries of social justice warriors, you can open carry in Michigan.
We’re hearing things out of Michigan that boggle the mind. The Michigan Governor is putting in many “social programs” in place under the rouse of the virus crisis. She is padding welfare programs that have nothing to do with it. That is why she wants to extend her orders to give her more time to input these without challenge.

via Huffington Post [3] — The Democratic governor signed three new executive orders extending the state’s restrictions meant to slow the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. Under the orders, Whitmer stated that an emergency still exists under one law and declared a new 28-day state of emergency under another law.
“COVID-19 is an enemy that has taken the lives of more Michiganders than we lost during the Vietnam War,” Whitmer said in a statement. “While some members of the legislature might believe this crisis is over, common sense and all of the scientific data tells us we’re not out of the woods yet.
“By refusing to extend the emergency and disaster declaration, Republican lawmakers are putting their heads in the sand and putting more lives and livelihoods at risk,” she added. “I’m not going to let that happen.”
The orders come amid protests within the state to reopen the economy. Earlier this month, an estimated 4,000 protesters drove their cars to Lansing, the state capital, to demand that Whitmer ease Michigan’s coronavirus restrictions.
I don’t think anyone is saying it’s’s over. What they are saying is that if we do not reopen, with all needed precautions, of course, the human tragedy will be many times worse than the virus. If people lose their jobs, then their homes, and starve, untold millions will perish.
While I believe separation is needed, this is a true test of how much authority one person can have in a constitution. Emergency powers were never intended to last longer than 30 to 60 days, depending on what state you are in. NO governor can just repeat executive orders without the legislative branch voting it in.

If the residents of Michigan just simply opened their businesses and did what they wanted, what could she do about it? Would the Attorney General stand by and watch American citizens being fired on by the National Guard?
Put it will take the courts to press this, and in this case, they have not, but in other states, they have.
This has now become all about politics, leveraging, and control by certain groups to further their agenda. California Governor Gavin Newsom just did the same thing a week or so ago.
It seems left wants small businesses to fail and make more people dependent on government. After all, if things become somewhat routine, Nancy Pelosi won’t get her to wish for another trillion-dollar bailout, which will have Vote By Mail and Climate change programs attached to it.
