Kevin James of “King Of Queens” [1] fame just appeared in a hilarious new short film that pokes fun at overzealous Americans who are harshly judging people for not wearing masks or following social distancing guidelines in public areas amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
Fox News [2] reported that the video opens with James, who often releases short films on his YouTube channel, and another man running for their lives as they are chased by police through the woods. The other man is soon caught, and dogs can be heard attacking him as officers tell him to stop resisting arrest.
The movie then cuts to “six hours earlier,” at which time James and the other man are caught by others shaking hands in a public park amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, which shows that they are not following social distancing guidelines. One onlooker wearing a masks and gloves calls 911 on the two men, resulting in the lengthy chase that opens the short.
The short film is meant to be a fun little satire to brighten up the days of Americans during a difficult time. Though it pokes fun at those who are taking social distancing too seriously, it’s still best to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [3] guidelines of staying at least six feet away from others at all times to lower the risk of spreading coronavirus.
This isn’t the first time that James has starred in a short film about the coronavirus era. On May 1, he released “A Quarantine Birthday [4],” which shows a man coming home to a surprise birthday party. He dances and socializes with friends, making it seem as if he is having the time of his life. The movie then cuts to the reality of him sitting alone in his home with a virtual reality headset on, blowing out the candle on one little cupcake all by himself.
We are all living in unprecedented times right now, and it’s hard to figure out what to make of everything going on. We applaud James for taking the time to create these humorous and thought-provoking short films that offer a commentary on what is going on in society at the moment.
