The “Today” show loves surprising women with ambush makeovers, and a video has just surfaced showing one of the best makeovers [1] to ever be performed on the show.
Lourdes Hembrick is a 52-years-old woman from Fort Worth, Texas who was ecstatic when she was picked for the makeover while visiting New York City with her husband. Lourdes just finished nursing school, and she was hoping for a brand new look to go with her new career! When the interviewer tells her that she’ll be the “hottest nurse in town,’ Lourdes replies with, “I can’t wait!”
Her husband, however, had other ideas. As he waited to see the results of her makeover with a blindfold on, he said that he did not want to see his wife’s gray hair be covered. Unfortunately for him, the stylist did not quite heed his wishes and colored her hair anyway. Luckily, as soon as he sees Lourdes’ makeover, he is so overwhelmed by how good she looks that he immediately forgets what he had said about her hair!
“Wow, wow, wow!” the man keeps repeating.
Lourdes had not even seen herself yet, but she was so touched by her husband’s reaction that she started to cry. The tears kept flowing when she finally got to look in the mirror and see just how amazing she looked!
“You did a fabulous job!” she said to the makeover team.
The second makeover in the video goes to Pam Kincheloe, a woman who is juggling multiple careers as a nurse, midwife, and lawyer. With all of these jobs to focus on, it’s understandable that she’s let herself go physically a bit. It had been years since she’d seen a good hairstylist, and Pam wanted a fresh start with a new look.
Pam’s daughter-in-law and her granddaughter waited to see the results of her makeover with blindfolds on just like Lourdes’ husband did, and they couldn’t wait to see what she would look like. When she finally walked through the door, the women were speechless at just how much younger she looked!
This just goes to show how life-changing a makeover can really be. There is nothing quite like a good makeover to give someone a new lease on life!
