Editor of Conservative News Site Reveals “Photography Trick” Reporters Are Using to Spread Panic

When I saw this tweet from Jay Caruso, the managing editor of Washington Examiner I had to share it with you.

As you know there’s a split in this country right now that’s dividing the nation. On one side we’ve got the people who want to continue the lockdowns and on the other side the people who want to open the country back up.

The main group of people who are pushing the continuing lockdowns online is liberal journalists.

These are the folks who are getting paid regardless of whether the country reopens or not.

And when these people see groups of Americans defying lockdown orders and congregating on beaches, they are always the first on the scene to snap photos of large crowds and spread them around to show everyone how the folks who want to reopen the country and who are on the beaches are irresponsible and not “social distancing.”

Many of these photos show large groups all huddled close together, giving off the illusion that everyone is smushed together, spreading disease and causing panic.

Don’t believe me?

Look at this picture below from the Virginia Pilot showing a beach in Virginia yesterday.

Looks like everyone is jam-packed on that beach ignoring any and all “social distancing” guidelines. And look at some of the comments on social media just based off of the photo:

“VA has 1000 new cases per day and 25 deaths per day. Per day. These people are selfish and ignorant. As are the fools that think liberty means freedom to exacerbate a public health crisis.”

“This is the mentality that explains why USA is leading in infection and death. Most other countries reasonably compliant. Wtf is wrong with all these people”

Scared or nervous people see these photos of people that look to be “packed together” and their panic and worry grow because they literally think everyone is piled on top of one another.

And that’s where Jay Caruso comes in…

He put out a tweet, responding to the Virginia Pilot piece and asked how often the press would continue using telephoto lens shots to make it “appear” as if everyone was literally piled on top of one another:

So what does a telephoto lens actually do?

Here’s what online photography tutorial site Lynda.com [6] says about telephoto lenses:

A telephoto lens visually compresses… any mass of people so that even if they…are 10 feet apart, it appears to the lens…that they are right up on top of each other.… It also helps to bring the audience right into the crowd.

The site goes on to explain that it’s a “photography trick” used by professionals to “manipulate” crowd scenes to make them look bigger, and denser and compacted together.

Here’s an example of a beach in Vancouver, British Columbia using a telephoto lens. The shot on the left makes it seem as if there’s no room to move on the beach. However, the shot on the right reveals what it really looks like without the telephoto lens.

A telephoto lens makes beaches appear much more crowded. (Vancouver, Canada)

So, I ask you, why would our media be doing this? Why are they so invested in stirring up panic and keeping everyone at home?

I think we all know the answer to that question.
