We reported [1] yesterday that country music star Cady Groves had tragically passed away over the weekend at the age of 30. Now, her friends are speaking out to express their fears that she may have died of coronavirus as her cause of death has yet to be revealed.
Insiders told Page Six [2] that Groves was found dead in Nashville on Saturday by a roommate who had not seen her for several days. She was declared dead at the scene, and her reps have said that an initial autopsy ruled out foul play. Though Groves’ record label “asked specifically” if the singer had been tested for COVID-19, police said a test had not been carried out despite the fact that over 3,000 people in the Tennessee city have tested positive for the virus.
“We’re in the middle of a pandemic — you would have thought it was the first thing they would do,” one insider said. “Her death was just so unexpected. I think [COVID-19] was a concern for everybody.”
The source added that city morgues were “overwhelmed” by cases, so Groves easily could have caught the illness. Another friend of the “This Little Girl” singer said that she had previously suffered from “bronchial issues,” believing that these were the “medical issues” her brother Cody Groves eluded to when he announced her death.

Fans had been worried about Groves for weeks, as she had been open about how hard life in isolation has been on her in various social media posts.
“Some days my mental health is AWFUL [5],” she confessed on April 15. “I feel completely alone and scared and far from everyone I love.”
However, one friend dismissed her “heavy words” in her social media posts as “millennial jargon.”
“She was expressing the kind of frustration that a lot of people can relate to right now — it wasn’t a mental health issue at all,” he explained.
Camus Celli, a rep for her label, agreed that Groves was looking forward to her future at the time of her death.
“She was extremely positive and planning for the future,” said Camus Celli, a rep for her label, Vel Records. “Her frustrations were more along the lines of, ‘Can’t we be over this — I want to get my record out and play some shows.’ She was going stir-crazy like most of us — but mostly because she just wanted to get on with her exciting plans for the future.”
