As the debate to reopen America or stay locked down rages on, experts say that President Trump, who is anxious to reopen America has “wide powers” when it comes to overruling governors during the Coronavirus crisis.
That’s good news since a lot of Dem governors have used their power to inflict pain and misery on their citizens. Governors like Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan have banned the sale of plant seeds, clothes, and baby car seats, and she also won’t allow families to visit each other unless it’s an “emergency.”
Legal experts across the political spectrum argue that the coronavirus emergency gives President Trump wide power to overrule governors over conflicts about how and when to re-open the country after the coronavirus shutdown.
“When you get to national emergencies, viruses that obviously don’t recognize borders and highly communicable diseases, the president’s power becomes great,” Harvard law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz told Just the News. “The president has ultimate authority when it comes to reopening. That’s more likely to happen on a case-by-case basis and region-by-region basis, and institution-by-institution basis.”
President Trump on Thursday outlined what he called a “phased and deliberative approach” to reopening the economy after the coronavirus shutdown, giving wide leeway to governors to reopen on their own timelines.
However, Trump also warned he would still be putting pressure on governors if they failed to manage their states well.
“But the ultimate goal is to work together,” said Dershowitz, a Democrat who said he voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016. “And that’s plainly the right result for the governor and the president to work together and agree on something.” [Just The News [2]]
The original COVID-19 numbers from the experts claimed that 2.2 million Americans were going to die. That number was then adjusted to 200k. After that it was adjusted once again down to around 60K, which are seasonal flu numbers.
Based on this, many Americans, whose lives have been destroyed by the shutdown, are urging their local and state officials to reopen the economy before it’s too late.
