On Saturday, the White House coronavirus task force warned against consumers going out to buy groceries or medication as the pandemic is expected to crescendo in the coming two weeks.

White House coronavirus response coordinator Deborah Birx warned, “The next two weeks are extraordinarily important. This is the moment not to be going to the grocery store, not going to the pharmacy, but doing everything you can to keep your family and your friends safe.”

This contradicts the CDC’s recommendations that if you find yourself needing to go to the grocery store and don’t have any kind of face covering, don’t stress over it. Former CDC chief medical officer, Dr. Amler, says you can lower your risks by remembering to follow the best practices that have already been well established for the last month.” Amler added, “Try to avoid places like grocery stores when they’re crowded,” he suggests.

“This will probably be the toughest week – between this week and next week,’ Trump told the White House press conference.

“There will be a lot of death, unfortunately…there will be death,” he warned.

New York remains the epicenter in the US, with the state’s death count surging past 3,500, including a total dead of more than 2,600 in New York City by Saturday night.

One thing I noticed at the local supermarkets and grocery stores, they are maintaining a berth of six feet between shoppers, if possible. That announcement by the task force didn’t gain a widespread response on social media.
