Abbott Laboratories created a new coronavirus testing device that will soon produce a result in five minutes and be available throughout the US.
FDA Commissioner Steven Hahn said, “This is truly a patient-centered approach, whether it’s the doctor’s office, a hospital, an emergency room, an urgent care center, or a drive-by testing site. Just like tests for flu or strep. We go to the doctor, she gets the test done. You can get an answer within minutes of having this test done.”

Do you think for one tiny hot moment that Barack Obama had anywhere near the kind of constant drumbeat of vicious, frothing hate that Pres. Trump has had for 3+ years – from the entirety of the opposition party, the entirety of academia, the entirety of the entertainment business, and the entirety of the mainstream news media?
If you think Obama had it rough, then no point in having any kind of discussion with you.
I wish testing wouldn’t have been so botched, and we could have gone the route of South Korea, where no lockdown was required because of their extensive testing, patient tracing, and mask usage. Options were limited in the US because of early failures.

Everyone with basic knowledge of pandemics understood the importance of testing and PPE since mid-January. The US failed miserably at both; they had weeks to fix this problem but didn’t. Many leaders kept pretending this wasn’t going to be a problem, and for six weeks, promoted policies that caused further spread. This wasted time cost American lives and is why a lockdown is now required.
Italy waited on testing until it was too late, like the US. This is precisely what I was talking about. This worked horribly for the US and Italy.
I certainly appreciate the fast track for the tests and the vaccines. Trump and his team are doing a fantastic job, and the American public knows it. But beware the law of unintended consequences. Quite often, the reason it takes medical advancements so long to make it to the public is to exhaust all research into unforeseen side effects, which may take a while to manifest.
Rushing things to the market may produce short term immediate results, but my prayer is that there wouldn’t be something worse lying in the weeds.
