Murders, larceny, sexual assault… apparently those crimes don’t warrant additional law enforcement attention during a pandemic because police officers are making sure to spend their time going after criminal manicurists.
Undercover police officers arrested two women [1]in Texas after they were found to be offering at-home beauty services, violating lockdown orders which were extended to May 30th.
After receiving tips from people who used the police department’s snitch app, an investigation was launched with undercover officers who are working on a COVID-19 task force enforcement detail (yes they really have one of those).
The police say that the women “targeted” customers on social media, going against the mayor’s decree.
The horror! Painting nails is a serious crime and should not be ignored during a pandemic.
Nevermind that a person will run into 10 to 50 times more people at a grocery store than in a private home. Makes sense to me. The government seems to know what is essential and what is safe and is acting accordingly.
The women were taken to jail and charged with violating the emergency management plan which means a $2,000 fine, 180 days in jail or both.
According to crime statistics [2]from 2016, Loredo had 620 aggravated assault cases, 1,015 burglaries, 12 murders, 148 rapes and 53 arson crimes.
Looks like they should have plenty to keep themselves busy without going after criminal hair stylists.
