According to the Detroit Free Press, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is eating crow and asking the federal government to send shipments of the antimalarial drugs hydroxychloroquine sulfate and chloroquine phosphate.
Whitmer was so against it because of the reports of how dangerous the cocktail drugs could be. I don’t know that much about them but I do know that it’s not for everyone. There are restrictions on using this drug so hopefully, those get out to the public but if it works and stops coronavirus in its tracks, then it’s a good risk.
Whitmer drew the ire of voices on the political right after her administration threatened “administrative action” against doctors who prescribed the medication to coronavirus patients.

The Whitmer administration has since removed the language threatening doctors from the letter and is now asking the federal government to send shipments of the drugs, Bridge magazine reports. The Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency authorization for the antimalarial drugs hydroxychloroquine sulfate and chloroquine phosphate on Saturday.
In its approval letter, the FDA wrote that “[b]ased on the totality of scientific evidence available to FDA, it is reasonable to believe that chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine sulfate may be effective in treating COVID-19.”
“When used under the conditions described in this authorization, the known and potential benefits of chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine sulfate when used to treat COVID-19 outweigh the known and potential risks of such products,” FDA Chief Scientist Denise M. Hinton wrote in the approval letter.
Whitmer also issued an executive order relaxing medical laws so personnel from out of state could help the state’s overloaded hospitals treat coronavirus patients. The executive order also offers doctors additional protections for medical errors. [Detroit Free Press]

It must be hard for the Michigan Governor to speak about what needs to be done to combat COVID-19 (coronavirus) with that big foot in her mouth. HInt: take the sneaker off before you put it in.
Also when receiving aid from Trump just turn your back to him and stick your hand out behind you, that way you don’t have to look at him or acknowledge him in any way. Michigan elected her. They may want to rethink that next election.
