Aspiring Biden VP possibility Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) went on Fox News Sunday and attacked President Donald Trump but then echoed almost exactly his economic message. As Governor Whitmer auditions for VP, she will keep attacking, no matter that her attacks make no sense at all.
Whitmer: “Not having a national strategy where there is one policy for the country as opposed to a patchwork based on who the governor is something I think is creating a more porous situation where COVID-19 will go on longer and more people may get sick and sadly more lives may get lost,” Whitmer said during an interview on Fox News Sunday.
Apparently she would love a federal leviathan to dictate to every town and state exactly what to do. It doesn’t phase her that the people closest to the issue usually have the best and most up to date data. She would prefer a monstrous new bureaucracy run out of DC. It’s always that message from the hard left.
And what does she think the president, Dr. Fauci, Dr. Birx, Mike Pence, Admiral Giroir, Peter Navarro, and others are doing at those daily briefings? Just a convenient photo op? No, they are enacting and supporting a national strategy that puts the people on the ground in charge, as it should be.
But then, she backtracks on her recent words of vicious criticism of the president: “None of the comments I have made (against Trump) have been a personal attack in nature. I don’t wage those kind of political attacks.”
She is simply lying. A Google search will show anyone her words. Then she tries to have it both ways by parroting the president’s economic message: “The longer we’re combating this the harder it’s going to be on our economy. I do have a lot of people that are out of work now [but] at the end of the day I know I’ve got to listen to the epidemiologists.”
But if we had an exclusively national response she would not be listening to anyone. She’d be cut out of the loop by DC. If Whitmer is the Democrat VP choice they will then have, like matching luggage, two out of touch, confused politicians on their national ticket. That will not make it pretty for them in the fall.
