As the World Health Organization labels the coronavirus a “pandemic” and the economic toll on the U.S. begins to take shape, Democrats in Congress are blocking the president’s proposed tax cut to help small business.
Democrat members of Congress are doing all they can to inhibit the national response and common sense health measures proposed by the administration. They are putting millions of American at risk of the virus and of economic hardship.
It is perhaps their most despicable moment.

Some have gone so far, as did Never-Trumper Wall Street Journal reporter Bret Stephens, to hope that COVID-19 is Trump’s “Chernobyl.” Once again, their irrational and pathological hatred for Trump surpasses any concern they have for America or the American people.
The president spoke to the nation Wednesday night from the Oval Office. He announced decisive measures to ensure the country would work to build up the supply of American-made drugs and a temporary halt on air travel to the U.S. from Europe, excluding the U.K.
In other developments:
- The NBA has suspended its season until further notice because a Utah Jazz player has tested positive for the virus.
- The stock market fell another 1,464 points on Wednesday. It is down 20% from its February high.
- Actor Tom Hanks and his wife announced, from Australia, they have tested positive for coronavirus.
- Colleges across America, including Harvard, are temporarily closing down and telling students to vacate their dorms.
- NYC’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been cancelled.
- The NCAA March Madness Tournament will take place with only limited staff and family attendance.
- The Democrat debate between Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders this Sunday, before the set of four primaries next Tuesday, will be held without an audience.
- Italy has virtually quarantined whole regions of the country.
- The Iranian government has lost several members to virus death.
- Public events of all types are being cancelled or scaled back.
- The White House has cancelled public tours.
- Current statistics show 126,000 cases in 110 nations. The global death rate stands at 4,600.

While the U.S. infection rate remains low and the death rate is under 1%, on par with the average flu, the psychological effect is turning the virus into a major world event.
