Who would have thought before the year started that March 13 would be the final day of the 2019-2020 school year.
On Monday, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam ordered schools in the state to remain closed for the remainder of the school year.
He said his decision doesn’t come lightly but his desire and mission is to help stop the spread of coronavirus.

The governor also said Monday that he would enforce a closure of nonessential businesses, including restaurants, theaters, indoor recreation centers, aquariums, zoos, racetracks and gyms, for at least 30 days.
Restaurants, farmers markets, breweries and wineries can continue to operate their takeout and delivery operations. Nonessential retailers and beauty and personal care salons are able to stay open if they can restrict store occupancy to 10 people at a time, each 6 feet apart.
The changes go into effect by midnight Wednesday, and remain so through April 23.
“There is no playbook for this,” Northam said during his Monday briefing. “Every action affects people and their livelihoods. Acting judiciously and with full regard for the consequences, it is clear that many of our nonessential businesses must close to minimize the speed at which COVID-19 spreads and protect the capacity of our health care system.” [Bizjournals]
