President Trump is pushing back on Pelosi’s partisan and hateful attacks by refusing to attend the House’s annual St. Patricks Day Luncheon.

The lunch is an event that’s been held by the House since Ronald Reagan served as president and thus far four presidents have missed it.
Recent presidents who have skipped the lunch were George W. Bush due to his kick-off of the Iraq war and Bill Clinton for his knee surgery.
Speaker Thomas P. “Tip” O’Neill, D-Mass., hosted the first St. Patrick’s Day lunch in March 1983. President Ronald Reagan and other House and Senate lawmakers attended the gathering, which had been arranged to ease tension between the two Irish-American leaders, according to the House.
The lunch became an annual event on Capitol Hill in 1987, missed by presidents just four times since then. Bill Clinton sent regrets after having knee surgery two days before St. Patrick’s Day in 1989. George W. Bush passed on the 2003 lunch, held days before the U.S. invasion of Iraq. [Time [2]]
Now in the times the president has missed the lunch he’ll send the VP to take his place, but Trump is letting these cronies know what he really thinks of them by declining to send Pence and issuing this scorching statement:
Amid news of the president’s forthcoming absence, the White House blamed Pelosi for his snub.
“Since the Speaker has chosen to tear this Nation apart with her actions and her rhetoric, the President will not participate in moments where she so often chooses to drive discord and disunity, and will instead celebrate the rich history and strong ties between the United States and Ireland at the White House on March 12,” White House spokesman Judd Deere told [3] Politico on Sunday. Oh, but it doesn’t stop there, folks!
He’s also hosting a lunch of his own with the Prime Minister of Ireland:
He added, “The relationship between our two countries has never been stronger, and the President looks forward to welcoming the Prime Minister of Ireland for the annual Shamrock Bowl presentation.” [Washington Examiner [4]]
In your face Pelosi!
He tore up that invitation just like she did to his SOTU speech.
