Report: Ohio Jail Considers Releasing Hundreds Of Inmates Over Coronavirus Concerns!

According to Fox News reports, 38 suspects held in Cuyahoga County Jail in Cleveland, Ohio, might be released into the public over coronavirus concerns.

Three individuals that live in Cuyahoga County, whose ages range between 54-56, 2 men, and one woman who lives outside the city of Cleveland has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Over the weekend, judges and prosecutors had a meeting. They agreed to release dozens of low-level and non-violent inmates. At the same time, local authorities hope to speed up the judicial process for additional inmates that number in the hundreds to be released in the coming days.

Maybe Ohio officials are following the strategy of Iran, who earlier this month,  freed 54,000 inmates “temporarily” to fight a coronavirus outbreak in its crowded prisons. What you don’t know is that satellite images located an alleged mass grave, the size of about two football fields. Reports are that thousands have already died because of the coronavirus.

In Italy, at least six prisoners were killed last week during a prison riot over coronavirus concerns. That country has lost upwards of 3,000 lives due to the virus.

An Ohio county jail is evaluating the release of hundreds of inmates amid concerns about the spread of the coronavirus within the facility.

Judges in Cuyahoga County, where Cleveland is located, held special hearings Saturday morning to settle pending cases with plea deals, release inmates into the public, place them on house arrest or send them back to prison, Fox 8 Cleveland reported.

“It’s not a matter of if this virus hits us, it’s a matter of when,” administrative judge Brendan Sheehan told Cleveland’s WOIO. “If it hits us and the jail, it will cripple our criminal justice system.”

“The goal of this is to protect the community and the safety of the inmates,” the judge also told Fox 8. “If someone’s a serious violent person, well, we’re using our discretion to make sure the community’s safe also.”

About 1,900 inmates were held at Cuyahoga County Justice Center last week. [Fox News]
