There have been many rumors with the movement of National Guard units in many of the major states, it has quite frankly scared many citizens.
The Maryland National Guard received some of those concerns and decided to squash the fright and fear by responding via their Twitter account. They posted the following: “If you see a @MDNG Humvee on your street, know we are helping someone in need! Whether it’s delivering much needed supplies or setting up tents for health screening stations, we are working for you”
The National Guard was requested by Baltimore Mayor Jack Young whose released a statement in reference to his decision. He wanted them “to provide humanitarian assistance in partnership with our city agencies as we work to slow the spread of COVID-19… The Guard’s deployment helps provide resources we need to support the work being done to keep Baltimore healthy.”

Military vehicles were spotted today in downtown Baltimore, and the Maryland National Guard confirmed they have troops on active duty in Baltimore that are awaiting missions.
Also, National Guardsmen were seen going in and out of SpringHill Suites by Marriott downtown. The National Guard confirmed that members of the National Guard are staying at the hotel.
The vehicles were seen underneath a bridge near M&T Bank Stadium.
The Guard said they are “just getting staged” but have not been tasked with any specific mission. [WBFF [5]]

For those who have asked: National Guard is in Baltimore at the request of the Mayor to help distribute meals at schools across the city and provide logistical assistance to hospitals and medical teams.
