State Democrats abruptly left the Virginia House chamber after a pastor condemned abortion and gay marriage during prayer.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reported Rev. Robert M. Grant Jr. of Father’s Way Church in Warrenton, Va. prayed a warning to those in the Virginia House chamber.

“Woe to anyone who harms an innocent child. I pray that you may understand that all life is precious and worthy of a chance to be born,” said Grant.

“God is the giver of life and people have no right or authority to take life. The unborn have rights and those rights need to be protected. They should never be denied the right to exist, the right to develop or the right to have a family. Every one of you sitting here today can guarantee these rights to these little innocent children of Virginia,” he said. “Please do not ignore their little voices. I pray for a heart change today, and may the Lord God have mercy upon this leadership.”

Democratic Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn banged her gavel to end the prayer and they moved on. However, discourse prevailed among many Democrats.

This was totally “disrespectful to all of us, all of us in this House,” Democratic Del. Luke Torian shared with the news organization. Del. Delores McQuinn also said it “felt like condemnation.”

When embattled Virginia Governor Ralph Northam endorsed late-term abortion in 2019, it sent shockwaves through the state. The bill would allow abortion up until the moment of childbirth. If this wasn’t enough, it was the remarks by Northam, a former pediatric neurologist, that bewildered many in the Commonwealth.

“If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother,” Northam said in an interview.
