The world is still reeling over the tragic death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi.
The wounds are still very real and very open for many people, especially his friends and family.
So, when feminists use his death for a #MeToo moment, tensions run high.
That’s what Gayle King, Oprah’s best friend and co-host of CBS news did when she discussed an incident involving Bryant from 2003 – 17 years ago.
As most of you know, Kobe was accused of rape by a woman. He always asserted his innocence and the case was marred in controversy.
It was a classic he said/she said situation.

In the end, Kobe and the woman settled the case outside of court and Kobe offered an apology, but still maintained that he believed their interaction was consensual.
As a woman, it does bother me that feminists are using this moment to drag up this 17-year-old story, especially when he’s not here to defend himself. Furthermore, whatever happened 17-years-ago will remain a mystery because none of us were there and to try and litigate this in the public square after he and his daughter were tragically killed just doesn’t feel right.
It feels very “opportunistic” and cold.
Kobe was a good father, and given that nobody knows what happened in that hotel room I believe that is how he should be remembered.
Now, with all that said, the people who do discuss the rape incident shouldn’t be subjected to death threats because of it.
But that is what happened to Gayle King.
Rapper Snoop Dogg, who was friends with Kobe, made a video where he threatened Gayle King.
Snoop called her a “funky dog head b*tch” and told her to “respect the family” (meaning the Bryants) before “we come get you.”

That video kicked off a firestorm against King.
Her BFF Oprah appeared on “Today With Hoda and Jenna” where she broke down in tears over her friend, saying “she’s not doing well because she has now death threats.”

So often politics is blamed for the “division” in this country.
Yes, there is some division because of crazy fringe people who hate President Trump with an obsessive and unhealthy passion…but much of the division is caused by the social marxism and toxic feminism that is running rampant in this country.
This situation is a perfect example of that.
